It has been sent to Canada on
December 4, 1941, and bears a British Field Post Office 4 dated DE 4 41
cancellation. The letters C.A.A.F. have been pencilled at top and there is no
stamp. This is a cover sent by a Canadian soldier or airman with a British FPO
hammer, as currently seen during WWII.
But it is the cover back which is most
interesting for Canadians. Indeed, on back, the sender has written his return address:
6th Armoured Regt (I.H.), 5th Canadian Armoured Div.,
Canadian Army, England.
There too is a large mauve single ring dated: 6TH ARMOURED REGIMENT.
(I.H.) MAIL ROOM, DEC 4 1941. And a pretty color sticker featuring Father
Christmas offering a turkey and saying Cheerio!
The cover has been torn at top
and is rather tatty with many folds. However it remains a unusual piece of
collection. Look at the picture and good luck.
I accept PayPal, personal checks
or money orders. As per eBay’s requirement, I am no longer allowed to write, as
I did for almost 6 years, that I accepted cash. Shipping is $1.25 to USA, $0.75 to Canada and $2.10 elsewhere. If
needed, please make the required shipping adjustment before paying. I will be
happy to combine shipping charges on multiple auction wins by asking additional
money only if there are additional postal costs for the additional lots. | | |
